What a lovely day to play bikes 🙂 Good to see the water has dropped down into the soil. That car was stunning with the wooden body!
Hey up Rich. Good idea hopefully can join you on a few lane discoveries now I have a bike more suitable for it.
The Eagle at Skerne Never had bars landlord served beer from the Cellar Dart board above the fire place aim low incinerate dart Tim Taylor’s Ale a favourite of mine and my brothers 😊
Exactly why I don’t do IAM too many daft rules I can’t explain it better but having done it at work everything was IAM this IAM that I prefer to use my common sense and just enjoy my bike I’m afraid we will just have to hold different points of view Rich
Called at Wansford lock last week going in the opposite direction & planned to take that lane into Skerne, it was still closed. That was an unusual old car. A good ride around the area.
One of the few days in June that was sunny and dry..! That car was a fabulous thing to be coming down the lane. Bugatti..? Great lanes, smashing weather and all within 30 odd miles from home. Perfect. 👍
Great idea about exploring the lanes ,i now am interested in doing the same, i need to get a map and maybe do it the old fashion way and colour in by hand the lanes i have done,or intend to do mmmmm got me thinking now,any ideas of where i can get a large map ? I am i hull by the way so our laanes my cross lol. Ps what year did you do your IAM? and was it in hull ?
Land Ranger OS maps are best I have Three 😊
I had a Sony ECM and found it was too good for use on the move in a helmet. With all the noise it was just “clipping” I now use and have used for a few years Purple panda mics. Very good price and sound quite good. A few UA-camrs use them.
Funnily enough, I've done exactly the same thing. The Sony just didn't work with the other bike.
Great fun checking out all the new toys. I think the best option is number one. 😎
Me too. It didn't work well with the other bike though 😞
I never noticed anything wrong with the drift mic but I probably wouldn’t notice anything unless it was really obvious @ 5:08 your audio sounds clear enough possibly a little tone less but acceptable for me it’s all this faff that’s slowly turning me off Moto vlogging you have way more patience then I Rich 😊
I find faffing around with cameras and audio very frustrating.
@@CalmBiker I agree with you Rich
Hi Richard one of the hardest things to get right I say number one sound the best 👍
Audio really is a pain isn't it?
I’d say that option one was the best of them all as it was really clear. Option two was difficult to understand what you were saying and option three was only just a bit better. 👍
I definitely agree. It didn't work well with the other bike though 😞
I'm still working on my audio, too, and I also get lost in which mic test number I'm on. Too many to count. My last helmet had such clear audio (an old HJC CL-17), but the new helmet has been a challenge while trying to get decent audio. Adding to the difficulty is the finicky GoPro mic connection issues that randomly serves up silent motovlogs. Here's to both of us getting it sorted out soon! :)
Fingers crossed for both of us!
Love the idea mate. I look forward to seeing more. A series of loosely connected potholes. Sounds like a good description of the road we live on.
At least I know it's not just our roads then!
I actually didn't know where you where that's twice this week think I'm slipping 😂
Haha! I wonder how many other lanes I might fool you with?
This reminds me slightly of my attempt back in the 80s to track and photograph the route of the Salisbury-Southampton Canal (AKA the bankrupt Canal). Took me to all sorts of interesting places, in all weathers over about 3 months. I was having a great time until my then girlfriend suggested that I should probably get my OCD checked out and talk to a professional. I was pissed off for months about that, but in hindsight she was probably right. Apparently it’s all about striking a balance…..😀
"Striking a balance"? Nope, never heard of that! 😀
Sounds like an adventure Richard, weather here is cold wet and windy like your summer!
Like most of the year here 😀
Think it’s a great idea. Looking forward to seeing the videos. 👍
Thanks!
Normally, within the first few seconds of your rides, I know your location, but this time you beat me. I even had to cheat and pause the video at a road sign to find where you were. I've lived in East Yorkshire most of my 71 years, and since returning to motorcycling 2 years ago my mission has been to explore all of the local lanes and you've found one I missed. Bugger!
Hehe! Glad to have given you another to explore! Maybe I'll see you out and about on them 🙂
@@Dave_East_Riding same here, lol. Apart from living in E Yorks or being 71, lol
@@martinowl 🤣🤣🤣
@CalmBiker I'll check it out today, supposed to be hot 🔥
I can’t say I recognised any of that route. I did look particularly rural, lol
It can get rural very quickly around here. I think I basically get lost for an hour or two and just follow the machine then occasionally I surprise myself by finding a road I actually know! 😀
This is a great idea. I've lived a lot of my life in Devon and Cornwall where this is pretty much the whole thing and I love the little lanes. Currently I drive lorries for jewsons all through the lanes of West Cornwall and it's great fun
I used to visit Devon often. You have some brilliant lanes to play in there, I remember the visibility being very poor as my grandad sped around them in his Datsun Z car 😀
@@CalmBiker I hope he was good at reversing!
Hi Richard them that your riding are definitely Lanes good way of doing it over laying maps and marking them off 👍🏍️😎
I've found some real gems. Lots of those tiny dual carriageways with grass in the middle 😀
I could seriously spend months exploring the historic buildings of the UK. Fascinating stuff mate! I was literally just reading about some of the history of England before 1066 when it was ruled by vikings etc before I saw this pop up.
There are so many and quite a lot are free to enter too, which is great. I have about 500 places on my list to visit (though not all historic) and the list grows quicker than I can fnid time to visit them!
@@CalmBiker Yeah that's a huge problem with life. We keep finding more and more things to do with our time the less time we have left! 🤣 I keep taking Sharon to historic places here but she finds them a bit boring due to growing up surrounded by much older stuff in every day life in the UK. 🤣
I always use adblockers. The only adverts I see on YT are the ones the video makers put in to the videos themselves, which I never watch. I am more than sick of adverts!
There are ways to avoid those too 🙂
Always nice when cars wave you on 🙂 I don't get adverts from anyone on UA-cam as I have UA-cam Premium which removes them but the vreator (if monetised) still gets watch revenue. On regular vids, I place an ad at the start and finish of a video. I only ever put a mid-roll advert on things like bike reviews, and only after the video has been up a week.... that allows any of my subscribers to avoid them if they watch in the first 7 days of a video going up. Personally, I think you should turn them on, bung an advert at the start and end, get a few quid back from the entertainment you give your subscribers at no cost to them. The revenue rates are not great, but it'll pay for the odd tank of go juice or a new SD card or camera battery once in a while. to help keep the hobby closer to cost neutral for you... helps pay for overpriced sidestands etc too! 😉
Haha! A side stand could take a while to save up for with the rate of advert revenue coming in 😀 I shall make sure I watch within seven days. I think I usually do anyway.
@@CalmBiker 😀
I have a set of grop puppies or whatever they are called in my garage, not tried them yet though. Them fancy chain oilers are a great idea, a mate of mine swears by his... On my dirty bikes I tend to just brush heavy gear oil onto them after a dirty ride as not so concerned with fling and the grease sprays turn into grinding paste on the trail... With my road bikes I still use a dry wax spray, mostly stays put, but is annoying to have to keep applying it if doing miles/wet rides
I'm still using the dry spray on the Z1000. Something about oil on the tyres of that machine fills me with dread 😀
@@CalmBiker yup, fast bike and chain fling is not a good combo
Grip Puppies are very good for reducing vibes. However they are not hardwearing and although they take the strain off holding the throttle on a long run their grippy surface make it very easy to unintentionally roll the throttle. Chain Oilers - I have used a number of different makes and for me the best was the PD chain oiler. Electronic pulsed pump directing oil to a 'wick' that lightly bounced on the lower run of the chain. Any light oil in the winter and heavier oil in the summer. The chain was always clean and rear tyre oild free. However when the wick wore out I was unable to get a replacement. I have had some success with t a loobman but be careful how you spell tha on a Google search. Current bike 2X V7 Motto Guzzis have shaft drive and a little XJ600 gets a paintbrush of 90 grade every three or four rides. That said the only way to keep a chain clean and oiled is with a fully enclosed chain, but the fashion police won't permit those.
Just looked at the PD oiler. That looks pretty neat. I wonder if an oil lamp wick would work with it as a replacement. I actually have a Loobman but I've never fitted it to anything. I offered it as a prize a long time ago but the person who won never sent me his details so I could post it 😀
I've never seen any ads on your videos. You always have a new topic and something interesting and informative. Thanks for what you do.
Thanks! That's very kind 😊
Can't say I notice any adverts but it really annoys me when third parties make money from my endeavour simply no cricket
You should be able to turn off monetisation on your channel now I think. It used to be available at 1,000 subs.
@@CalmBiker in all probability I have as I don’t see any ads
I don’t get ads I pay for the premium service always have done Richard cannot stand ads even Amazon charge you now to to remove ads 👍🏍️
I try to avoid subscription services where I can. I had a free go at Amazon Prime and was quite surprised to get my programmes interrupted by adverts. It didn't make a difference though, as I never intended to keep it 😀
Never seen any ads on your vids, either on my laptop or my phone.
Great stuff. I guess they honour the setting then. Shame they force them on some channels really.
No, never seen an advert on your channel. Always good to see you riding some of my favourite lanes.😊
That's good then. Cheers!
Not seeing any adverts… but not in the U.K.and using a couple of extensions that make them go away.
Cool, thanks! 🙂
I hate when it is windy. I know that the bike is helping me to but the fear is so real. The amount of times I'm wishing I was anywhere else.
It can be difficult to relax, especially on bikes that really feel the wind.
How did you get the 2 sparkplug 1 and 4 out ,i have a sparkplug tool but its not getting in ,its comming against the frame
It's very tight, particularly on the left. I had to move the cabling over and use a universal joint socket and a couple of extensions.
I thought about installing one of these, but never got around to it. 😎Looks like your is working well, Mate
It takes a bit of fiddling with to get the flow rate right but it's worth it. If your rear tyre is very wide though it can get a bit messy.
I noticed the price hike too, bit crazy.... Anyways I had dual side hose fail as well one of the feeds just fell off, the second one I got it still going strong few years on. On my FZ1 I decided to try the single feed which was way easier to install and you notice now they don't even sell the dual feed one anymore, you do notice slightly less oil on the inner side of the chain but it still gets there and I found you get less spray on your wheels as it's being released on the outer sprocket surface instead.
I didn't realise at the time that they stopped selling it. I looked online for a replacement and saw the message after I made the video. Good to know your still getting good results from the single-sided nozzle. I did a couple of hundred miles yesterday and had a little fling on the tyre and the chain looked nice and oily right across 🙂
I have pussie grips fitted over my oxford heated grips Richard. Never had an oiler I use chain wax every 500 kilometers.
We get so much blooming rain at the moment that I find I'm spraying the Z1000 chain almost every ride 😀 It's really good for long journeys. I was hoping to do the Iron Butt this year before I hurt my back and it would have been great to not have to take any lube.
I have just fitted Grip Puppies to my Triumph Street Twin, done about 150 miles so far and I find they help make the grips feel more comfortable.
The CB500X is quite buzzy on the bars and it seems to help with that too. I will definitely be keeping them on.
Afternoon Richard 😊 looks like it was a very large church in its day, but nice to see that it's still being used and the drone footage is excellent 👍
Cheers James!
That’s what we’d call a fixer upper !! Yeah nah. Nothing like that down here. The drone footage really adds to it and the lovely summer day has me jealous.
It was a cracking summer this year! Both weeks! 😀

Cheers. I wonder that too. There were no boards giving an idea and I can't find anything online that shows more than the gatehouse.

Thanks!
Drone footage was awesome. I have just returned from Europe, the weather was awesome. The history over there is amazing. Needs a bit of work that one. 😎
Thanks! There's definitely a lot of old stuff around here!
Shouldve just used some rope to back end to hold it up. Thanks for the video.. mine is due to be done. Appreciate it
I was changing the plugs too and it can get very tight. I normally just prop with a bit of wood. Glad it was helpful 🙂
Just bought that alarm and the instructions say, don't connect it straight to the battery.
I guess it's been updated. I wonder why.
Video 1066! Impressive and also an important year for England! Fitting for a historical video! Maybe the last room in the gate house was the toilet? 🤣 It's a shame there isn't much left, but what is left is pretty cool! I'm guessing that there are heaps more castles in the UK sitting in ruin like this one than most people probably realise. I'm very surprised that you can just walk into it so freely. Great stuff mate!
I wish I could say I planned the numerical coincidence but alas not 😀 There are lots of castles and towers. A lot are open to the public too, though they can be expensive to enter and tricky to film. I was surprised this one was open to the public.
Great drone footage Richard. It makes me wonder what the people were like that lived there.
Hmm. Sure I replied to this already but the reply isn't there. 😕 I don't think they would have had much time for me and probably wouldn't like me on their land (unless I was cleaning or serving them something!)
